150 stalls burnt to ashes at makeshift market in Takoradi

Over 150 stalls have reportedly been burnt to ashes at the makeshift market in Takoradi.

The fire, according to sources, started around 2 :18 am on Monday April 4 ,2022.
Items lost include raw food items such as yam , corn dough , beans , as well as packs of rice, oil and cosmetic products .

The cause of the fire is not readily available as reports indicate the fire could have been put out earlier, however the delay in getting the ECG to turn off the main power supply was a factor.

According to the regional fire service Public Relations Officer, Divisional Officer Grade 3 Emmanuel Bonney, it took 8 fighter tenders from various stations within the Takoradi area to put out the fire.

According to the metro NADMO Director James Obeng Jnr, the Western Regional Minister and Member of Parliament for Takoradi Kwabena Okyere Darko Mensah has directed that a committee be constituted to investigate the incident and proffer recommendations as soon as possible.
