195 coronavirus cases recorded with 5 deaths

Ghana’s Minister of Health, Kwaku Agyemang Manu has confirmed that the country has seen an increase in its cases to 195 and 5 deaths as of Tuesday, March 31, 2020.

All five deaths had underlying chronic medical conditions prior to Coronavirus infection.

The breakdowns of cases in the regions are Greater Accra – 174; Northern Region – 10; Ashanti Region – 9; Upper West Region -1; and the Eastern Region – 1

He gave the announcement this morning at a press briefing at the Ministry of Information, monitored by GhanaWeb.

Mr. Manu reiterated that 100 of the cases confirmed have been from the ministry’s enhanced general surveillance.

3 patients recorded from the general surveillance have fully recovered and have therefore been discharged from the treatment facilities.

He further noted that 80 people out of the same 160 recorded in the general surveillance are responding to treatment while 18 have been discharged to be managed at home.

Accra mandatory quarantine

48 people are responding to treatment in isolation at health facilities while 31 have been discharged for home management in Accra. This group has not recorded any full recovery or death.

Tamale mandatory quarantine

All the 10 positive cases recorded in Tamale are responding to treatment.
