Another mass shooting in Khayelitsha left two men dead and three people injured on Friday night, Western Cape police said.
Spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg said they were shot in Mandela Park, Harare, shortly after 23:00.
The dead men were 30 and 37 years old. A woman, 30, and two men, aged 28 and 30, were taken to hospital.
“Harare police were called to the crime scene where they found the victims with gunshot wounds to their bodies. The two males were declared deceased on the scene by paramedics. The other victims were taken to a medical facility for medical treatment,” added Twigg.
The police previously activated their 72-hour special protocol after similar shootings in the hopes of catching the perpetrators as residents live in fear.
One person has so far been arrested in connection with one of the shootings.
Thirty-five-year-old Thando Shuba faces six charges of murder in connection with the shooting at the Enkanini informal settlement.
Police Minister Bheki Cele visited the area after the Enkanini shooting and promised more policing. He was also warned by frustrated community leaders that the risk of people taking matters into their own hands to deal with criminals was increasing.
