A woman known as Ada Anambra has alleged that the Labour Party’s presidential candidate and former governor of Anambra state, Peter Obi played a key role in making religion influence the selection of individuals for top government positions in the state.
Another social media user who goes by the name Joe Igbokwe also confirmed the woman’s claim and shared similar experience.
According to the woman, only people in the Roman Catholic faith are appointed or given big positions in the state.
She also added that civil servants in the state that are Roman Catholic members are the only ones getting promotions.
Igbokwe noted that as a member of the Anglican Church, he has profound knowledge of this alleged trend.
His words: “I have made this point known to all and sundry. An Anglican Bishop told me in tears what they have been going through at the hands of Catholic Governors in Anambra State since 2003.
“I am an Anglican from Nnewi in Anambra state and I know the story very well. It is not only despicable but totally reprehensible and unacceptable. The monopoly of government house in Awka by Catholics must stop as a matter of urgency.”
