2024/25 Ghana Premier League: Week 2 Match Report – Asante Kotoko 1-0 Nsoatreman

Asante Kotoko secured their second win of the season with a 1-0 victory over 10-man Nsoatreman at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium on Wednesday, October 2, 2024.

The match had to be postponed due to Nsoatreman’s involvement in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Elvis Kyei Baffour scored the decisive goal in the 47th minute, leaping highest to direct Dauda Saaka’s cross into the top left corner.

This marked a second consecutive assist for Saaka, who also contributed to the 1-1 draw against Betekum Chelsea last Sunday.

Kotoko dominated the match with 55% ball possession and 18 goal attempts compared to Nsoatreman’s 45% possession and just four attempts. In terms of shots on target, Kotoko outperformed Nsoatreman 6-1.

Nsoatreman ended the game with ten men as midfielder Daniel Amoo was sent off after picking two yellow cards in eight minutes.

Following this victory, Kotoko now sits in second place in the league, just one point behind Medeama, who maintains a 100% record with three straight wins.

Kotoko will face Accra Lions at home this Sunday, while Nsoatreman, who won the FA Cup last season, finds themselves in the bottom three with only one win.

With their continental commitments concluded, they will aim to improve their standings against Legon Cities next.
