2024 Budget:Gov’t saying its has secured permanent Jobs for 100,000 NABCO graduates is a Big Lie- Nana Tachie NABCO PRO

The National Public Relations Officer(PRO) of the Nation Builders Corps [NABCO] Mr Nana Tachie Erick has slammed the Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta for what he described as palpable falsehoods on his statement that the government of Ghana has secured a permanent Jobs for (NABCO) graduates during 2024 budget representation.

Mr Ken Ofori-Atta during the 2024 budget presentation on 15th November,2023 at the floor of Parliament indicated that, Akufo-Addo/Dr Bawumia led administration has supported 100,00 young NABCO graduates to secure permanent employment and this has reduced the unemployment rate in the country.

In response to the Statement made by Ken Ofori-Atta the Finance Minister, the National PRO of NABCO, Mr Tachie said, the implementation of the programme which was a stop-gab measure for students who have graduated from the tertiary institution ended in the early year of 2021 which trainees have been now left in limbo.

“Trainees are walking aimlessly at the road side without Jobs.NABCO never achieved its intended purpose as detailed in the 2024 budget” he said

Mr Tachie reiterated that its shame and utterly dishonest on the part of Government to popularised its own unimaginably failure, adding that it is beyond all human expressions for government to trade on expired failed adhoc NABCO policy engulfed with 9months arrears even at the lying tongue promising a permanent employment by President Akufo-Addo which has never been materialised.

He added “Amount Spent on NABCO should have nothing to do with 2024 budget as made known during the 2024 budget representation yesterday by Ken Ofori-Atta the minister of finance. The career pathway transition process which was optioned to usher beneficiaries to permanent mainstream jobs by Dr Bawumia never came to its realisation”

Mr Tachie further stated that, over 70,000 NABCO trainees have currently subscribed to unemployed Youth Alliance, stressing that NABCO didn’t make any difference for it’s intended purpose so government should never boast of its achievement.

The Nation Builders Corps (NABCO) programme is a government initiative to address graduate unemployment to solve social problems for better livelihoods.

The rationale behind the initiative is finding pragmatic measures in solving public service delivery in health, education,Agriculture, technology, and governance and driving revenue mobilization and collection.

The objective was to provide temporary employment to unemployed graduates and to improve skills and employability for transition from programme to permanent Jobs.
