2024 Elections:Opportunity for Ghanaians To Reclaim The Soul of the Nation- Akwasi Oppong-Fosu

*2024 Election: Opportunity for Ghanaians to ‘Reclaim the Soul of the Nation’ – Oppong-Fosu*

Hon Akwasi Oppong-Fosu, a former Minister of State, has observed that the 2024 election has provided Ghanaians the opportunity to reclaim the soul of the nation.

Responding to a question on the state of governance and the economy by Kwasi Kyei Darkwa ( KKD) host CTV’s programme ” Master of the Game,”

Hon.Oppong-Fosu observed that, high inflation the worst in 30 years, increasing government debt the highest in 50 years, and the steep depreciation of the currency also the worst in 30 years. This unprecedented economic downturn has led to the collapse of many businesses, making the investment climate unattractive.

This has pushed many millions of Ghanaians into unemployment and extreme poverty. On the state of governance, he made reference to the Mo Ibrahim report which revealed a dire situation and cited the case of the judiciary, which has been cited as lacking independence from executive control.

He assured that Mahama would tackle the issues of corruption, which has become a major national concern headlong, noting that his record whilst in office is a testimony.

John Mahama recognises that youth unemployment is a threat to peace and stability. The 24-hour economy policy will address this challenge.

He further explained that this policy aims to boost productivity in key sectors like agriculture, industrialization, and technology, creating jobs and reducing unemployment. He also said the 24hr economy will introduce a 3 shift system increasing labor demand and reducing unemployment.
