3 Chinese arrested in connection with stabbing to death of colleague

A Chinese, who allegedly stabbed his compatriot at Asankragwa in the Western Region, during a disagreement over a woman, has been arrested by the Ashanti Regional Immigration Command of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS).

The suspect, Wei Yanwen, 25, absconded after the incident, but was arrested in the late hours of Tuesday, February 12, 2020, at a hideout at Adiembra, a suburb of Kumasi.

Li Daojian and Huang Xuwu, two other Chinese, said to be accomplices, were also nabbed at the hideout, according to a release issued by Superintendent Michael Amoako-Atta, Head of Public Affairs of the GIS, in Accra, yesterday.

It said the suspects were currently in the custody of the Ashanti Regional Immigration Command, and would be handed over to the Ghana Police Service for further action.

According to the statement, the prime suspect, on January 24, this year, stabbed a Chinese businessman, Lee Buau, and went into hiding and was declared wanted by police.
