38-year-old woman dies after giving birth to triplets

Grandmother of eight children, Mary Akosua Korankyewaa has given a chilling account of events leading to the death of her only daughter, Adwoa Dankwa, who died at the age of thirty-eight.

“My daughter had initially given birth to triplets and twins. She got pregnant again and brought forth another triplet, but unfortunately died a day after delivery leaving behind eight children. I, now have to single handedly take care of the eight children”, she told crimecheckghana.

The feeble looking grandma who lives in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region said amidst tears that the father of the children have traveled to seek greener pastures but has not been able to help them financially ever since he left.

The five children who are old enough to be in school according to her, have to intermittently stay home because there is no money to purchase their books, pay their school fees or even pay for their feeding whiles in school. Madam Korankyewaa says she has no one to help her to cater for the eight grandchildren her daughter has left behind.

She further told crimecheckghana, she initially worked as a caretaker of a public toilet to enable her to cater for the children’s daily meals but had to stop because the condition at the facility which was close to her house was affecting the health of the new born triplets.

Madam Mary Korankyewaa is calling on Ghanaians to come to her aid. “Please have mercy on me and come to my aid. One square meal a day is even a problem to us. It is by grace that we are living together with a Good Samaritan in her single room but we are thirteen in number in the room. The 5 months triplets have to be fed with babies milk since their mother is no more but there is no help to do so”, she said.

Crime Check Foundation is appealing to Ghanaians to come to the aid of Madam Korankyewaa to enable her cater for her eight grandchildren.
