41 sacks of wee seized from farmer

The Drug and Law Enforcement Unit (DLEU) of Ghana Police Service yesterday arrested a 48-year-old farmer, John Kwabena Mosi, for allegedly possessing 41 sacks of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp at Broodi in the Tain District of the Bono Region.

DAILY GUIDE gathered that the suspect, who is currently being held at the Regional Police Command, is assisting the police to track down the kingpin who is on the run.

Regional Crime Officer, Chief Superintendent Nana Kwaku Duah, said the arrest of Mosi became possible after another suspect, who is in custody provided information to the police to locate the main producer of the narcotic drug.

The police officer declined to disclose the name of the first suspect because he is still helping the police in their investigations.

Chief Supt. Duah said that the police found two sacks of the suspected leaves in the ringleader’s house in special operation but he escaped by the time they got there.

“However upon intelligence, we chanced upon John Kwabena Mosi, alias Anani with 41 mini sacks of ‘Wee’ though he was not our main suspect,” he added.

He said they would do everything possible under the law to apprehend the main supplier of the Indian Hemp.

According to police, Mosi cultivates Indian Hemp but pretends to be undertaking cashew farming.

Detective Chief Inspector Adams Yahaya, Head of the DLEU, who led the operation, told DAILY GUIDE that the Tain area has become well-known for the growing of cannabis.
