66 ECOWAS nationals arrested by Western Regional Command of Ghana Immigration Service

66 ECOWAS nationals were arrested by the Western Regional Command of the Ghana Immigration Service. The individual was apprehended for entering the country without proper documentation and also for using the country’s name for illegal things. They are currently being held for further investigation by the authorities.

The Western Regional Command of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has said that on Wednesday 27th March, 2024, it rounded up sixty-six (66) irregular migrants at their hideout within the Western Regional capital, Sekondi-Takoradi.

This is contained in a press release issued by the Command dated March 27 and signed by the Public Relations Officer of GIS, Western Region, Insp. Moses Manford Akakpo.

“This Intelligence led operation, which began at about 2200hrs on the said date led to the arrest of these ECOWAS nationals believed to have been recruited to engage in cybercrimes and other suspected illegal activities. The suspects are currently in the custody of the Western Regional Command of the Service, assisting in the ongoing investigations,” the GIS said.

 

“The Service is by this statement assuring all our stakeholders, especially, the good people of the Western Region of its readiness to make public, the outcome of this investigations as soon as practicable,” they assured. The GIS highlighted their dedication to openness and informing the public of the investigation’s developments. They reaffirmed their commitment to safeguarding the security and safety of the people living in the Western Region.
