Information gathered by GhanaWeb indicates that the victim was crossing the canal on a footbridge when she lost balance and fell into the moving water.

A brother of the victim, who spoke to GhanaWeb said the girl was returning home from their mother’s vegetable farm where she was the whole day driving away animals when she met her unfortunate demise.

He said having felt the need to go back home, she used the footbridge but lost balance and fell through a gap in the bridge into the water.

The incident happened around 1 pm.
