A teacher at the Zuta DA Basic School based in Akatsi in the Volta Region has made a personal donation of caps to some KG students of the school that she teaches in the Akatsi South Municipality.
The teacher, Miss Eunice Yayra Dumor in an exclusive interview with Akatsi based Kaleawo FM said she feels very sad as a teacher seeing some of her pupils struggle and fight over few caps in order to drink water during break periods in the school.
She added that no child should be left home or feel inferior in the presence of their colleagues because of personal effects therefore sees it as a great honour to come to the aid of the students who she describes as the future leaders of the Akatsi South Municipality.
She said she started donating to students not today but admitted that this is the highest number of pupils she has helped so far and hence her decision to do it on the occasion of her birthday and promised to increase the numbers in the coming years.
Head teacher of the school, Mr Wise Afeadi who was President at the ceremony praised the teacher for the good work done and urged her to do more since the gesture would go a long way to reduce the risk of spread of communicable diseases and the deadly Covid-19 which has bedeviled the nation and the world at large.
He also urged the pupils to make sure they take proper care of the caps and also continue to pray for the teacher since he is of the believe that Miss Dumor will one day present them with more valuable educational materials to aid their studies.
He said it is very welcoming that as a young teacher the lady has been able to come out with this initiative which many will be very happy about
