A/R: Soldiers set four excavators ablaze in private residence

Armed Military personnel believed to be members of the anti-galamsey task force have allegedly set ablaze four excavators parked at a private residence of a man believed to be small-scale miner.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, 23rd February 2022 at Ntobronso, a Community in the Nkawie District of the Ashanti region.

The fire spread to a private residence of a miner destroying properties worth thousands of Ghana cedis.

What triggered the action by the military is not yet known.

The development has thrown the Ntobronso community into a state of shock as residents questioned the intention behind the exercise.

An eyewitness Eno Akua told EIB’s Ashanti Regional correspondent, Isaac Justice Bediako, that residents were afraid to go close to the fire because the military men who carried out the operation were fully armed.
