Two survive timber truck accident in Kumasi

Two persons escaped death by a whisker at Patase Mango- down in the Kumasi Metropolis of the Ashanti Region Monday afternoon, after a timber truck loaded with three heavy logs rammed into their Toyota Camry car.

The incident which threw the community into a state of shock happened when the truck driver failed brake while climbing the Patase Mango-down to Police Depot hill.

EIB Network’s Ashanti Regional correspondent, Isaac Justice Bediako reports that eyewitnesses described the accident as very scary and questioned why Kumasi city authorities are failing to restrict the movement of heavy trucks carting logs in Kumasi, particularly in the busy areas of the city during day hours.

The residents say they have witnessed a number of timber truck accidents in Patase and its environs hence want the government to act immediately to avoid deaths from such incidents.
