Atiwa East NPP picks new officers, lauds committee for free and fair elections

Some New Patriotic Party, NPP, members in the Atiwa East Constituency of the Eastern Region have commended the party’s committee deployed to supervise the just ended internal elections in that constituency.

The election was conducted by the Dr. Twum Barimah-led committee.

In a press statement the members noted that the friendly atmosphere under which the polling station and electoral area coordinators’ elections were conducted has indeed shown that the ruling party understands democracy, adding that the whole process had been “free and “fair”.

“Through the palpable and diligent effort of the elections committee, all processes regarding the conduct of the polling stations elections have successfully ended in the Atiwa-East Constituency. The grassroots unequivocally wishes to commend the Elections Committee for the excellent work done. They carried out procedural, transparent, accessible, and fair polls in all our polling stations across the constituency”, the group said in a statement.

“This electoral milestone would not have come to light. Still, for their determined and diligent effort, proper planning, and cooperation from party members who contested various positions, we take the liberty once more to congratulate them. This laborious attitude towards party work is highly emulating”, it added.

Appeal

The New Patriotic Party’s internal elections have been characterized by widespread agitation and in some cases legal tussles.

The grassroots in the Atiwa East Constituency are also appealing to all disgruntled members, including those who did not win the elections to respect the party’s decision and let peace prevail. This, they say, will pave the way for the party to be strong and formidable to retain power in the next general election

“To all our newly elected polling stations executives, we wish to extend to you the very best congratulations on your victory. Our fervent prayer and hopes you prove to the many voters who have entrusted their power in you of your capabilities, hard work, and loyalty to the New Patriotic Party, be it rain or shine. In this manner, we shall together work for the growth and development of the good people of Atiwa-East and aid our Party Breaks the eight(8) year political power, which is the dream of all true patriots across the country.

Once again, as the internal elections are over, let us do well to bury our differences by uniting even stronger for unity in the party. We, therefore, implore everyone to reminisce of the fact that for the NPP government to deliver to the satisfaction of Ghanaians, there is a vital need for all members irrespective of their profession, tribe, constituency, or even their standing in the party to support in any way they can.”

It will be of great essence to remind ourselves of admonition in article 3D of the NPP constitution, which talks about the duties of a member; it reads;

“As a member, it is your duty to;

I) Protect and Promote the excellent name of the party

ii) Protect the unity of the party

iii) Be Loyal and truthful to the party.”
