Nigerian police confirm abduction of catholic priest from his home in Kogi, Nigeria

Suspected Terrorists have kidnapped Rev. Fr. Christopher Onotu, the parish priest of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Kogi State.

The incident occurred on Saturday night in Obangede, Okehi Local Government Area of the state.

“My Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Christopher Onotu kidnapped at Obangede, Our Lady of Perpetual Help parish has been kidnapped. Your prayers are needed most my dear people of God,” Eunise Toyin Alex posted on Facebook on Sunday.

Another Facebook user, Sammy Hendsome, posted on Sunday, “My formal spiritual director @ school of engineering, Osara/Itekpe, Kogi state polytechnic, Rev Fr. Christopher Onotu kidnapped at his resident Obangede, Our Lady of Perpetual Help parish. The abductors went inside his room through the back window, go (sic) away with his car, left his phones at home but went away with his Sim Cards. Please let all join hand to pray for his release and all those in the hand of kidnaps (sic).”

It was gathered that members of the church did not find out about the incident until Sunday morning.

Meanwhile, the spokesperson for Kogi State police command, DSP William Ovye Aya, while confirming the incident, told SaharaReporters that police officers have been deployed to go after the kidnappers.

He said, “We will make sure he is rescued and they [the kidnappers] are brought to justice.”

On Sunday, some terrorists stormed St. Francis Catholic Church in Owa-luwa Street, in the Owo Local Government Area of Ondo, while celebrating Mass.

They shot and killed scores of worshippers and left many injured.
