PHOTOS: Tension at Homabenase as residents in bloody clash with landguards, many injured

OTECNEWS’ intelligence and monitoring of the operations of landguards at Homabenase within Bosomtwe District in the Ashanti Region have spotted a number of the Ghana Police operating with these landguards against the residents.

Already tension in the area has reached its zenith as the people of Homabenase have vowed to defend and protect their lands. Their avowal, according to insiders, was due to similar illegal operations perpetrated by the landguards about three years ago that led to the death of an elderly of the town, a week after he was subjected to torture.

If prompt measures are not put in place to arrest the situation the tension in the area may escalate into something else, “OTECNEWS” can report.

Last week 21 people were arrested by the Ashanti regional anti robbery unit at the central police command at Homabenase near Donyina Within Bosomtwe District in the Ashanti Region.

The 13 out 21 notorious langurds accused persons have remanded to police custody over land vigilantism by the Kwaso magistrate court of Ejisu municipality.

Chief inspector, Godwin Amedzo in his prosecution told the Court that, the 13 accused persons are on their wanted list for various degrees of crime at the Donyina police command for couple of months and all efforts been made to get them arrested proves futile until they informed by the Ashanti regional anti robbery police command have gotten them at their custody which assisted their transfer.

He further prey to the court to remand the 13 for further investigation and the Court granted the plea and remanded the 13 to police custody to reappear before the court on the 14th of this month.
