Abuakwa kidnapping: Police successfully rescue 34-year-old woman

The Ghana Police Service has confirmed it through its anti-armed robbery operations successfully rescued the 34-year-old  female victim who MyNewsGH.com reported earlier was kidnapped by armed robbers at Asonomaso in Abuakwa in the Ashanti Region.

“Police have successfully rescued the female victim who was taken away by the armed robbers”, the Police said in a statement issued on their Facebook page sighted by MyNewsGH.com.

The victim according to the police has been sent to the hospital for medical review.

“The victim is being taken for medical review and psycho-social care,” the police said adding, “We are still on a manhunt to arrest the robbers and we will surely get them”.

Earlier today, MyNewsGH.com reported a robbery incident that occurred at Asonomaso in the Ashanti Region.

The suspected armed robbers in their operation took hostage of a 34-year-old woman after robbing the family.

The incident happened around 1 O’clock am Wednesday, August 17, 2022, where properties including laptops, money and other valuables were taken by the robbers.

The robbers numbering about 3 additionally demanded a ransom of GHC 20,000 be sent through mobile money before they could release the woman.

It is unclear, however, whether the police paid the ransom as demanded by the robbers or not.
