Armed Robbers Still Call Me to Give Me ‘Tip Off’ — Retired CID Boss

A former Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department has said despite his retirement from the service, armed robbers constantly reach out to him valuable information.

The former D-G, COP Bright Oduro retired was speaking on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM monitored by MyNewsGh.com Wednesday when he made the disclosure.

According to him, armed robbers some of whom are still in detention or who have finished serving time in prison are able to call him and give him valuable leads and information.

“It is because of how we treated these people when we arrested them. We didn’t maltreat them or dehumanize them so even after everything, they are able to trust us and call with valuable information about certain things even now” COP Bright Oduro said in Twi.

According to him, when he receives such information from the criminals or convicts, he passes it on to some of his boys he knows in the system.

The ex Police chief who was asked to proceed on leave few months to his retirement in October 2017 is accusing the police hierarchy of unfair treatment in the month leading to his retirement.

He bemoaned how Kennedy Agyapong was orchestrated to damage him with accusations of protecting activities of some land-guards in Accra, after 29 years of service to the Police.

Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong,  serially accused Mr. Bright Oduro of having connections with land-guards whose activities have been described as illegal and worrying by Ghanaians.

While dismissing those allegations, ACP Oduro said the Police service should have given the go ahead to take on the MP.

“I reported to IG. What this man (Kennedy Agyapong is doing is not right. I reported to Kan Dapaah….” but he said all to no avail.

Mr. Bright Oduro urged New CID Director Faustina Andoh-Coffie to consult her living predecessors including IGP Retired David Asante-Apeatu among others.
