‘Gob3′(Gari and Beans) sellers threaten indefinite strike over high price of beans and oil

In recent times, gari and bean popularly known as “Gobe” has become one of the most patronized local delicacies in Ghana because one can quench his hunger with little amount of money which can sustain him for many hours.

Again, gobe comes with many health benefits to its eaters because of the variety of nutritious ingredients such as beans, palm oil, ripe plantain among other things that are used to prepare it.

Meanwhile, the sellers of such prominent food in the Twifo Atti-Mortwa district of central region have threatened an indefinite strike action due to the high prices of the ingredients for preparing it for their huge customers in the district.

In an interview with the Wassa East based radio station WASSAMAN FM, the sellers bemoaned that, the high prices of these ingredients, beans and palm oil being the prime items have skyrocketed and have gotten a devastating impacts on the “Gobe” business.

They disclosed that, customers complain bitterly about the quantity of Gobe served on them which according to the sellers, it’s not any fault of theirs but rather the high inflation rate in the country.

The sellers are appealing to the Government to tackle and find a lasting solution to unravel the persistent depreciating cedi against the dollar and stabilize the speeding inflation in the country to enable them continue to prepare the people’s food (“Gobe”)
