Prison officer hangs himself over prison escape

A prison officer in Jasikan in the Oti Region has reportedly taken his life over a prisoner who escaped.

Reports say that the prison officer was indicted because the prisoner absconded under his watch. He couldn’t take the shame and so hanged himself.

The prison officer known to be Sergeant Edwin David Doh is said to have been at post at Aflao when the escape occurred.

Police say that he was found hanging in his room at Jasikan and investigations prove that he committed suicide.
