Fire incident: Close down Kajetia market for 3 days – Ash. Reg. Minister

The Ashanti Regional Minister Simon Osei Mensah has recommended closure of the Kumasi Kejetia Market for three working days after fire gutted the market on Wednesday.

This, he, said will give management of the market and technical team enough time to assess the level of damage caused by the fire and fix them appropriately.

The minister made the statement when addressing the media while touring the fire ravaged Kejetia Market on Thursday.

The fire started from the third floor of the market around 4:30 pm on Wednesday, March 15 and spread to other parts.

The cause of the fire which left many people trapped and destroyed items worth thousands of Cedis has not been established yet.

Fire fighters had a touch time trying to douse the fire.
