South Africans call president to resign amid high cost of living

South Africans have taken to the street to protest against high cost of living and the resignation of President Cyril Ramaphosa.

Amid the protest, soldiers have been deployed to help protect major infrastructure, BBC.COM reports.

The president has also warned protestors against harming people and damaging of properties.

Meanwhile, the leader of the opposition party EFF has asked South Africans to join the national shutdown protest.

He adds that the protest will be “peaceful and vibrant” and will end at midnight.

“It’s just the beginning; now, let’s go out and join the picket lines,” Julius Malema tweeted.
