New Kejetia market fire: NPP fulfils GHC100,000 promise

The traders who were affected by the Kumasi Kejetia Market fire outbreak have received a monetary donation from the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the amount of GH100,000.
The delegation, led by the party’s General Secretary, Lawyer Justin Frimpong Kodua, visited the affected traders on March 20, 2023, and made a promise to them which was fulfilled by the party.
Recently, the traders raised concerns about the party’s failure to fulfill their promise.
The money was given to the traders today, Friday, April 28, 2023, by Nana Ama Ampomah, the party’s Ashanti Regional Women’s Organiser, and a few other party officials.
In presenting the funds to the traders, Nana Ama Ampomah stated that the government is working to assist the affected traders in restarting their businesses through the Medium and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) and Ghana Enterprise Agency (YES).
She also urged the officials in charge of rebuilding the market’s impacted areas to be fast with it so that the vendors could reclaim their businesses.
The managing director of the market, Mr. Edmund Kofi Duffour Addae, praised the leadership of the party for keeping their word when he received the money on behalf of the traders.
For his part, Nana Akwasi Prempeh, president of the Federation of Traders, pleaded with the government to provide loans to the traders so they could restart their businesses.
