The Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai constituency Treasurer for the New Patriotic Party, Mr Charles Assuah, has alleged that, the District Manager for the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) Mr Joseph Aneere and his subordinate are sabotaging the Npp government.
According to him, the actions of the ECG officials will rather hinder the party from breaking the eight.
Speaking in an interview with Dailypublisha.com, Mr Assuah Charles stated that the said manager and his accomplice are going round removing meters installed through his instructions and unlawfully charging customers huge amounts of money for reconnection.
He said he had a call from some folks that he should help the installation of the meters since he is the chairman for the electrical committee to the MP, however, upon the deliberations with the partners and the contractors he agreed to help the installation, adding, the ECG took hundred cedis per meter and gave him forms to be filled by the customers whilst they buy the meters, confirming their agreement to install the meters, meanwhile, some of the meters have come whiles majority of have not been captured. The question is, is it the contractor’s fault or the ECG? Again, the ECG manager has been playing a mind game on the contractor anytime he visits him. He has been alerted some of his workers have been installing some in Tano Odumasi and Nyinahin, but nothing has been done about it.
In addition, he said the ECG officers after agreeing and taken the money for the installation are accusing the customers of buying illegal meters, however they were not going to capture the meters in their system, which he believes it’s a plan thing to soil his hard gained reputation and sabotage the government.
He said this development has raised several eyebrows, others demanding for compensation for their moneys or their meters since the ECG officers have sold out the removed meters to different persons.
“I do not understand the actions of the ECG manager(Joseph Aneere) and his DTO because he the manager is aware and agreed to the installation of the meters and took his share, but they have turned round instructing the removal of the installed meters. It is also clear that they are charging the customers unlawful amounts of money before reconnection, which I think it’s a way of sabotaging the system and soiling my hard gained reputation. I am calling on the authorities for immediate actions,” he emphasized.
Moreover, Mr Charles Assuah emphasized that, as part of the evil plots of the ECG officers, they have failed to respond to him on the calls to resolve the problems.” They have failed to respond to my approach to solve the problems, they are given me problems and going round selling the meters to different persons which is unlawful, I am calling for the top hierarchy of the government and ECG to take prompt action against this impunity”. He ended.
