Residents of Mpasaaso No1 and Nyamebekyere in the Ahafo Ano South West district of the Ashanti region who have for years struggled with deplorable roads are excited as an Aspiring member of Parliament Hon Elvis Osei Mensah Dapaah begin the construction of a 4-kilometre stretch in the area.
The project, which began through the coffers of Hon Dapaah who is Aspiring for M.P. in the area, will for the first time see the road network since its creation.
Residents in this community are excited about the positive impact the road construction will have on their lives.
Since its creation, residents of Nyamebekyere among others have had to live without roads to bring their farm produce to market.
Drivers are forced to stop playing within that stretch due to the nature of the road and those motorbike and Aboboyaa who work there charge exorbitant fares.
But through the efforts of Hon Elvis Osei Mensah Dapaah who also doubles as a financial secretary of the Ahafo Ano South West constituency, construction of a 4-kilometer road and other infrastructure development began.
For the Assembly Member of Mpasaaso, Charles K. Asare, the struggle of pregnant women accessing vehicles, especially at night, will soon be over.
“We had to carry pregnant women shoulder high to nearby towns before we could access health care while sometimes our farm produce has to be left rot, especially in the rainy season. I cannot quantify the benefits we will get once construction is completed. It will serve as a link to Mpasaaso and Tepa road,” he said.
For years, commercial drivers resorted to offloading passengers at Mercy of rain because of poor network.
Mohammed, a resident of Nyamebekyere who has had to trek home for over 4 kilometers because commercial drivers refused to enter the village in protest over bad roads, is excited.
“Ever since I was born, I have never seen a grader working on this road before. The drivers offload us in the middle of the road because of the poor nature of the road. I am happy this will soon change as Hon Dapaah constructs the road,” he said.
“This road was a no-go area, especially in the rainy seasons. This practice of the drivers refusing to work in this village would soon be over” Mohammed added.
