J. Cole responded to Kendrick Lamar on “Might Delete Later”

J. Cole responded to Kendrick Lamar on “Might Delete Later,” a track where he addresses their rumoured feud that happened a few weeks ago. J. Cole even said to Kendrick that he loved him and went ahead to diss him. Cole’s verses showcase his lyrical prowess and thought-provoking commentary on the state of the genre.

Kendrick Lamar made headlines last month when he dissed Drake and J. Cole in his verse on “Like That” from the new Future & Metro Boomin album WE DON’T TRUST YOU, and now Cole has responded on his own surprise new album Might Delete Later. On closing track “7 Minute Drill” he raps:

Your first shit was classic, your last shit was tragic
Your second shit put n****s to sleep, but they gassed it
Your third shit was massive and that was your prime
I was trailin’ right behind and I just now hit mine
Now I’m front of the line with a comfortable lead
How ironic, soon as I got it, now he want somethin’ with me

[…] He averagin’ one hard verse like every thirty months or somethin’

If he wasn’t dissin’, then we wouldn’t be discussin’ him

Listen below.

Kendrick had originally responded to Cole rapping “Love when they argue the hardest MC/Is it K-Dot? Is it Aubrey? Or me?” on Drake’s “First Person Shooter” with the lines “Fuck sneak dissin’, first-person shooter, I hope they came with three switches” and “Motherfuck the big three, n****, it’s just big me.”
