The controversy began when Ladipoe posted a tweet hinting at a decline in the careers of Afro beats artistes. He wrote, “Nigerian rappers that survived ‘hip hop is dead’ watching Afrobeat artists go through their own.”
The tweet caught the attention of a concerned X user who then directed Wizkid’s attention to it.
In response, Wizkid dismissed any possibility of engaging with artistes signed to ‘an influencer’ — a subtle jab at Don Jazzy, under whose label Ladipoe operates.
Wizkid’s tweet read, “lol never chatting to anyone signed to an influencer. Next.” This subtle jab at Don Jazzy has since sparked a flurry of reactions and speculations within the music industry and among fans alike.
