Yolanda Monyai of Big Brother Mzansi season IV during a podcase show with Chuenza and Willy reminded fans that she is not the one who won the 2 million at the end of the show.
She went on to say that it didn’t happen for her, and they should know she might be famous because of the show but went there broke as ordinary Yolanda and so shall it be, until things get better. In her own words, she said, ‘I didn’t win the R2 million; we all know that. I am broke but famous‘. Yolanda emphasised how the housemates grab couple opportunities but can’t make them have the lives fans want them to.
According to Yolanda Monyai, the gigs they get don’t pay them R200k or R1 million for them to hire crew for wardrobe, make-up, and many other things. What they get is actually not enough, and these are some of the things that get ex housemates depressed, suicidal thoughts, and pressure to borrow beyond their means.
Chuenza added that people forget there is only one winner at the end of the day. He asserted that they all went into the show as ordinary personalities and came out famous, so possibly their lives are now going to start from there. They will now get to be booked and get brands to work with to catch up with the lives they all want for them. Fans expectations from them makes it seems non ambitious.
Yolanda’s honesty about her financial situation is refreshing in a world where many celebrities try to maintain a façade of wealth and success. Her transparency is a reminder that fame does not always equate to financial security, especially her as a newbie.
