2024 Eid ul Adha was celebrated with a call to safeguard peace during the 2024 general elections.

Addressing Muslims in an interview with the press, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) constituency chairman in Nkoranza South in Bono East Region, Ali Adams reiterated the need to strengthen peace in the upcoming 2024 general elections.

Muslims around the world celebrated Eid ul Adha (Festival of Sacrifice) on Saturday, June 16, 2024, traditionally slaughtering animals to commemorate the Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son when God ordered him to.

According to Chairman Ali, the slaughter constitutes a readiness to carry out the order by Prophet Ibrahim, testifying to his obedience. Muslims emulate and obey this good deed to demonstrate complete submission to God’s will.

He therefore urged politicians to ensure a peaceful environment and exercise circumspection in their utterances during their campaigns.

Chairman Ali stressed the need for stronger efforts between Muslim and Christian communities, as well as traditional authorities, to end political and ethnic conflicts.

He finally suggested to politicians to focus on issue-based campaigns, avoiding personal attacks and divisive rhetoric, to promote a culture of respect and tolerance.

He called on all residents to preserve and protect the gains made in the past.
