Sincerely speaking, your PMXTRA favourites have very slim possibilities as far as the Ghanaian industry is concerned. What we have here for celebrities isn’t a match for the upcoming newbies to enter with ease.
To succeed in the tight space, it’s crucial to set realistic expectations and prioritize accessible opportunities. As a newbie, consider approaching companies to pitch your ideas or demonstrate how your brand can assist in selling their products.
It’s involves a lot and Ghana here one need connection to pull through. Will you now go to Tecno to drop Stonebwoy, Kasapreko and Infinix to drop Shatta Wale, Flora to drop Serwaa Amihere, Hisense to drop Nana Ama Mcbrown, or pair up with someone else?
The opportunities here are so limited. It’s only a few ads, hosting gigs that TV3 can put housemates on, but do they like them enough to put them on or do they see the need to fix them?
Ghanaians in particular don’t know how to use these housemates fame to enrich their coffers or shine while they also benefit. They are adapted to the orthodox way of managing their companies or products.
Imagine seeing ‘Rosey X Appietus Real Estate’, and ‘Darlyne X Kofi Essoun’ co. trending. Do they know the number of people who will click to know what’s ongoing in the tags? But our big men have no clue, or they will rather give it to the agenda boys(Twitter boys).
We know how the likes of Cubana Chief Priest of Nigeria, Obi Cubana, Oga Paulo, even Davido and Burna Boy, and other prominent men and women in Nigeria used the BBNaija stars to shine or promote songs and became who they are today.
Most Ghanaian entrepreneurs don’t care about shine or making it to the mainstream with their products, they are simply enjoying the mpesiwaa [small coins] and bragging small in their corner. They don’t have the time to jump into the buzz.
This is the time to give your favourites the opportunities at hand and forget they bring something big to the table. If it happens, so be it but for how long? Unless they go to these big men and women and sell themselves to them, how will they embrace them, pay them well, and work with them?
Piece of three advices(Suggestions):
- Those entrepreneurs among them, should be resourced and supported to push their brands.
- Seek opportunities from well known companies for them, by tagging them online, if only they will be available online, or your favourites should be going to them to show proof of trends and how influential you are. Trending is essential, it really matters.
- If you have the means, ‘japa’ them to study and work abroad.
