A real reversal to the case of the man who damaged a dozen monitors at Santiago Airport with a hammer. After 7:00 p.m. this Tuesday, a passenger of Haitian nationality starred in the violent incident at the air terminal after discovering that the ticket he had purchased was never booked.
Preliminary, it was reported that the subject was overshadowed by an alleged charge for extra baggage; however, after 10:00 pm, Carabineros revealed the reasons for the man’s violent frustration.
Lieutenant Manuel Narváez, Ronda officer of the Santiago Occidente Prefecture, gave details about the event that left material damage of approximately 20 million pesos.
“During the course of the afternoon, a person of Haitian nationality, who had problems when boarding a flight he had purchased, realized that this flight was never booked,” said Lieutenant Narváez
This situation decanted in the minute of fury in the passenger, who took a hammer out of his suitcase and began to destroy the facilities of the Santiago International Airport.

The man used the hammer to damage the counters, screens and equipment of the counters where the check-in is done. According to Narváez, “he worked in the construction sector here in Chile and was carrying several tools to be able to continue practicing this same profession in his country, Haiti.”
In his statements to the police , the passenger claimed that he was the victim of a scam, since he had bought a ticket to Miami and then continue to Haiti. “He accuses that he was scammed and, from there, his minute of anger and fury is generated,” the officer added.
The case was reported to the Local Prosecutor’s Office of Pudahuel, which determined that the man was placed at the disposal of the Courts of Justice.
It is expected that the detention control will be carried out this Wednesday.
Likewise, Lieutenant Narváez mentioned that although no previous complaints of this type have been registered – ticket scams – they will continue to investigate if there are other similar cases.
