During a media engagement at his private office in Weija yesterday, Archibald stated, “Recent comments made by Hon. Prempeh have sparked concern, but it’s essential to understand the context. His words were made under intense national pressure and were not meant to disrespect the spiritual beliefs of Ghanaians.” Dr. Opoku Prempeh had said, “There is no country in the world where people work for 24 hours; even God sleeps at night.” The comment, which was made in reference to labor practices and work-life balance, drew criticism from some groups who felt it was insensitive to religious and cultural values.
Archibald, while acknowledging the concerns, said, “Hon. Prempeh is a devout individual whose faith plays a central role in his decisions. His dedication to Ghana’s development is unquestionable. As a public servant, he has always focused on addressing the country’s most pressing issues. His faith and commitment to service are evident in his tireless efforts to improve the lives of Ghanaians.” Regarding the controversial statement, Archibald added, “While the comment may have been poorly phrased, it does not reflect his true respect for our nation’s diverse values.
