Election 2024: Polling station results will be published on our website – EC

The Electoral Commission (EC) has pledged to enhance transparency by publishing the polling station results from the December 7th elections on its official website.

This was confirmed by Dr. Bossman Eric Asare, the Deputy Chairman for Corporate Services, during an appearance on Joy News’ The Probe on Sunday evening.

Responding to a recommendation from Dr. Mohammed Ibn Chambas, who urged the EC to release polling station results as a trust-building measure, Dr. Asare stated that the Commission had already considered the proposal. He assured the public that the results would be made available online, allowing candidates seeking to challenge the outcomes to access the necessary data for legal purposes.

This commitment comes after various civil society organizations (CSOs) called on the EC to publish polling station results to ensure transparency.

Last month, Dr. Kwesi Jonah of the Institute for Democratic Governance (IDEG) and Rev. Dr. Fred Deegbe of the Ghana Center for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana) advocated for a system that would electronically transmit results from polling stations directly to the EC’s website in the upcoming 2024 elections.
