In a significant move to alleviate water scarcity, Hon. Maame Pokua Sawyerr, Member of Parliament for Agona East Constituency, has commissioned two mechanized boreholes in Kofi Ashong and Kwame Kwei. This initiative, part of the Agenda 50 boreholes project, aims to improve water supply in underserved areas within the constituency.
“Through the tireless efforts of my constituency and branch executives, we successfully handed over the project to the chiefs and local people, ensuring its sustainability,” Hon. Sawyerr stated, emphasizing her commitment to community development.
This gesture resonates with similar initiatives undertaken by organizations like the Presbyterian Relief Services and Development, which has provided mechanized boreholes to communities in the Volta Region. The Western Regional Coordinating Council’s construction of 160 mechanized boreholes across the region further demonstrates the collective effort to address water scarcity.
During her visit to Akrobong, Hon. Sawyerr seized the opportunity to educate the community on President John Dramani Mahama’s position on the ballot number which is 8. She stressed the importance of voting for him in the upcoming elections, fostering a sense of civic responsibility among constituents.
In a community engagement session, Hon. Sawyerr tackled concerns regarding the proposed clinic, citing strong opposition as the primary reason for delays. She also presented rice and other essential cooking items to the women in the community, highlighting the impact of inflation on their daily lives.
This outreach effort showcases Hon. Sawyerr’s dedication to her constituents’ well-being and underscores the importance of accessible basic amenities like water and healthcare. Her consistent efforts have earned recognition from the NDC Grassroots, praising her impactful motherhood and leadership.
Residents of Kofi Ashong and Kwame Kwei expressed gratitude to Hon. Sawyerr, acknowledging the transformative impact of the mechanized boreholes. “We are thankful for Hon. Sawyerr’s unwavering commitment to our community’s development,” said a local resident.
Hon. Maame Pokua Sawyerr’s tireless work in Agona East Constituency serves as a testament to her unwavering dedication to community development. As the constituency looks forward to continued growth and progress, Hon. Sawyerr remains a steadfast champion of their needs and aspirations.
