Don’t Sacrifice Your Life For Politicians- Sheikh Tells Ghanaian Youth

Sheikh Harun Appau, the National President for the Islamic Mission Secretariat, has issued a powerful warning to the country’s youth: don’t sacrifice your life for politicians. With the 2024 general elections approaching, he is concerned about politicians using the youth to engage in violence, which may indicate potential risks for the upcoming polls.

Speaking in an interview with the press, he urged politicians to stop preparing the minds of the youth for violence. He emphasized that no politician’s ambition is worth the blood of another person. “Let no blood spill on our land because of politics,” he pleaded.

He took advantage of the opportunity to urge the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to submit their alleged ghost names to the EC for proper resolution instead of causing unnecessary commotion. He said their call for forensic auditing is rather unfortunate.

Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of other Civil Society Organizations joining the conversation on matters that could hinder the country’s peace instead of being indifferent.

He urged the clergy and others to take proactive measures for peace during the 2024 polls.

“The truth is that everyone is afraid to be tagged with political parties after expressing his or her view. But we can’t sit to watch our country going wayward. We have to talk. I will urge all CSOs to add their voices”.
