John Mahama Pledges To Establish Ghana Medical Care Trust

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, has unveiled plans to establish the Ghana Medical Care Trust, also known as MahamaCares, to alleviate the financial burden of healthcare for individuals suffering from chronic diseases.

This initiative aims to provide vital support for those struggling with kidney failure, cancer, Sickle Cell disease, diabetes, hypertension, and other heart diseases.

As part of his 2024 presidential campaign, Mahama has emphasized the need for a comprehensive healthcare system that caters to the needs of all Ghanaians. The Ghana Medical Care Trust is expected to play a crucial role in achieving this vision by ensuring that individuals with chronic conditions have access to quality healthcare without financial hardship.

In addition to MahamaCares, the NDC has promised to complete the construction of 111 hospitals initiated by the current administration, as part of its “Agenda 111” policy. Other healthcare initiatives outlined in the NDC’s 2024 manifesto include uncapping the National Health Insurance Levy, implementing free primary healthcare, and expanding health infrastructure to restore prompt employment and deployment of health workers.

Mahama’s commitment to healthcare reform has been welcomed by many, who see it as a critical step towards improving the overall well-being of Ghanaians. With the Ghana Medical Care Trust and other healthcare initiatives, the NDC flagbearer aims to make quality healthcare accessible and affordable for all.
