Hon. Adom Johnson strengthens ties with Techiman Traditional Council

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Techiman North, Hon. Adom Kwabena Johnson, has paid a courtesy call on the Techiman Traditional Council.

The visit, which took place on Thursday, April 24, 2025, formed part of Hon. Adom Johnson’s  familiarization tour to key traditional authorities within the district. The purpose was to seek the advice, prayers, support, and guidance of traditional leaders as he officially begins his work as DCE.

The DCE and his entourage which included all the Heads of Departments, Directors, Deputy Directors, Supervisors, and some staff of the Techiman North District Assembly, Commanders of the various security agencies in the district, and a section of the media, visited several palaces including the Techiman Traditional Council, the Jama Chief’s Palace, the Temponim Chief’s Palace, the Anyinabirem Chief’s Palace and the Krobo Chief’s Palace.

During his meeting with the Techiman Traditional Council, the Techiman Krontihene, Nana Takyi Fri, on behalf of the Traditional Council congratulated Hon. Johnson on his new role and offered him words of wisdom and encouragement.

“We congratulate you once again. It is our prayer that your name, Adom, reflects its meaning of grace to the people of Techiman North, Techiman South, and the Bono East Region at large,” Nana Takyi Fri stated.

“Do not forget your roots; you were appointed by the President through the recommendation of others and confirmed as MCE by some people, so always remember that and remain humble.”  He said.

Nana Takyi Fri further urged the DCE to respect all those he will be working with at the District Assembly and to be extremely careful in how he treats and deals with people around him as he discharges his duties as the Techiman North District Chief Executive.

“Respect all Directors, Deputy Directors, Supervisors, Heads of Departments, and workers at the Assembly. Be vigilant when dealing with people. Watch your steps carefully and collaborate with the executives and members of your party. We believe you will achieve great things for the people of Techiman.” He said.

Hon. Adom Kwabena Johnson, in an interview with the media after the familiarization tour, explained the significance of his visit, emphasizing the important role traditional leaders play in local governance.

According to him, traditional leaders are key stakeholders in governance and play a critical role in the development of the community; hence, the need for him to visit them before officially assuming office.

“It was a familiarization tour. I assumed office last week, but I know that our Traditional Council are key stakeholders in governance. As we speak, the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development has been renamed the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, meaning our traditional leaders have been duly recognized as key partners in development.

“Therefore, I deemed it necessary to pay a courtesy call on our traditional leaders in Techiman to seek their advice, prayers, support, and guidance as I embark on this journey.” Hon. Johnson explained.

He further disclosed that it is important for the Assembly to establish a cordial relationship with the Traditional Council to ensure rapid development in the district.

“I strongly believe that if the Assembly establishes a strong relationship with the Techiman Traditional Council, it will make the Assembly’s work easier and ensure the rapid development of our community.

“Nananom are the custodians of our lands. If we build a good relationship with them, the Assembly will not struggle when we need land for developmental projects.” he stated.
