A delegation of 20 esteemed lecturers from select African institutions has embarked on a transformative journey to Nitra, Slovakia, to participate in a week-long training workshop on Digital Marketing. Led by Professor Yarhands Dissou Arthur, the project coordinator from Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED) in Ghana, this initiative is part of a larger project aimed at promoting digital marketing in technical and vocational education and training in Ghana.
The project, titled “Towards Digital Marketing in Technical and Vocational Education and Training in Ghana,” is co-funded by the European Union and seeks to enhance the lecturers’ skills in digital marketing.
The delegation comprises six lecturers from AAMUSTED, seven from Cape Coast Technical University (CCTU), and seven from Bolgatanga Technical University (BTU).
According to Prof. Arthur, “The training workshop is expected to have a positive impact on the lecturers and their institutions, enabling them to stay abreast of the latest developments in digital marketing.” He emphasized that defining future skills needed for TVET graduates in the digital era and aligning such skills to the unique local Ghanaian context will help achieve the project’s aim.
The project will involve participants in co-creating DIGIMARKT, as well as improving the skills of teachers, trainers, and mentors on innovative tools, online pedagogies, and teaching techniques, cutting-edge technologies, and trends in digital marketing. This will empower the youth by providing them with practical skills in digital transformation tools and models, thereby enhancing technical and vocational education.
To ensure sustainability, the DIGIMARKT approach will be available to the public, and an online micro-learning unit on digital marketing will be accessible to all interested organizations and learners in English. Prof. Arthur’s leadership in this initiative underscores AAMUSTED’s commitment to harnessing digital marketing to drive innovation and excellence in technical and vocational education.
