NAWGG’s May Day Games Fosters Camaraderie and Healthy Competition at Awutu Bawjiase

The National Annual Workers Games Ghana (NAWGG) recently hosted the highly anticipated May Day Workers Games at Awutu Bawjiase in the Central Region.

The event, themed “Stronger Together: Celebrating Unity Through Sports,” brought together workers from diverse sectors to promote unity, health, and productivity.

In his opening remarks, His Royal Highness Ambassador Abdul-Salam Yussif II, Director of NAWGG, emphasized the importance of sports in fostering cooperation and development among workers nationwide.

He reiterated that the event’s primary objective is to promote unity and healthy living for national development.

The Founder and President of NAWGG, HRS. Mr. Issaka Musah, highlighted the event’s key objectives, including promoting physical well-being, enhancing social inclusion, boosting workplace productivity, and encouraging a healthy lifestyle among the youth.

He also emphasized the significance of teamwork across public and private institutions, aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 8 and SDG 17.

The games featured a range of activities, including soccer, volleyball, draughts, and playing cards, with winners receiving cash prizes, trophies, and medals. The Police Unit emerged victorious in the soccer category, while Public School Teachers dominated the volleyball competition.

Principal sponsor Mai Martaba Alhaji Sarki Aliu Mohammed Zaki III expressed his desire for peaceful coexistence among workers across all sectors. He encouraged the youth to pursue both formal and vocational education, avoid substance abuse, and lead responsible lives.

In his remarks, Mr. Issaka Musah noted that the event’s success would not have been possible without the collaboration with the International Youth Network of the United Nations Security Council Resolution 2250 (IYNUNSCR-2250).

He expressed gratitude to all participants, sponsors, and partners for their support.

The NAWGG’s May Day Games serves as a prove to the power of sports in fostering unity and promoting healthy competition among workers.Undeniable, as the event grows in scope and impact, it is poised to become a flagship celebration of worker camaraderie and solidarity.

– Soccer: Winner – Police Unit, 1st Runner-up – Health Workers
– Volleyball: Winner – Public School Teachers, 1st Runner-up – Adansefuo Adamfo
– Draughts: Winner – Adeiso Teachers, 1st Runner-up – Hillside Mineral Water Workers
– Playing Cards: Winner – Adansefuo Adamfo, 1st Runner-up – Aluminium Fabricators
