The Bono East Regional Minister, Hon. Francis Owusu Antwi, has called on Muslims in the region and across the country to use the occasion of Eid al-Adha to promote unity and champion the development of their communities.
Speaking to the media at the Techiman Zongo Park, where he joined thousands of Muslims in prayer and celebration, the Bono East Regional Minister emphasized that the Eid al-Adha celebrations are deeply rooted in the values of solidarity, love, and charity.
He therefore called on all Muslims to uphold these values and use the occasion as a rallying point to foster peace, unity, and purposeful development within their communities and the nation at large.
“I urge all Muslims to celebrate this festival in peace and harmony, remembering the true essence of this holy occasion, solidarity, love, and charity. This is a time to set aside our differences and unite for a common cause: the development of our communities and Ghana as a whole” He stated.
Hon. Francis Owusu Antwi seized the occasion to praise President John Dramani Mahama and the current administration for their continued support of the Muslim community, stressing on the recent initiatives aimed at enhancing inclusivity and improving the welfare of Muslims across the country.
The Bono East Regional Minister also welcomed the recent reduction in Hajj pilgrimage fares, noting that it would ease the financial burden on Ghanaian pilgrims and ensure more inclusive participation.
“The reduction in Hajj fares will significantly benefit everyone across the country. President H.E. John Dramani Mahama has stated that the revenue generated from the Hajj will be channeled into developmental projects within Muslim communities nationwide.
“Our Christian brothers and sisters enjoy extended holidays during religious celebrations such as Easter and Christmas. Therefore, the addition of an extra day to the Eid al-Adha and Eid al-Fitr holidays is a step in the right direction. Coupled with other initiatives the President has introduced in support of our Muslim brothers and sisters, it clearly shows how much the NDC government values Muslims and Islam as a religion.
