Techiman North NADMO commends MP for dredging Tuobodom and Aworano Rivers to prevent flooding

The Techiman North District Director of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Mr. Mohammed Adamu, has commended the Member of Parliament and Minister of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Hon. Lawyer Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, for her collaborative efforts with the Techiman North District Assembly to dredge the Subin Bridge at Tuobodom and the Aworano Tano Bridge.

The dredging exercise, according to Mr. Adamu, has brought significant relief to residents of Tuobodom and Aworano who have long struggled with flooding and stagnant water during the rainy season.

He explained that before the intervention, water overflow and debris accumulation around the two bridges often led to road blockages and property destruction, posing risks to both commuters and nearby residents.

“The initiative by Hon. Lawyer Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare has made a remarkable difference, by clearing and widening the waterways, she has not only ensured the free flow of water but has also helped avert potential disasters that could have affected hundreds of households in these communities.”

According to him, the timely dredging of the rivers has eased the movement of vehicles and pedestrians, which previously became dangerous during heavy rainfall. The exercise, he added, also complements NADMO’s broader disaster prevention and risk reduction strategy in the district.

Mr. Mohammed Adamu further acknowledged the collaborative approach between the Member of Parliament and the District Assembly, describing it as an example of effective local governance that prioritizes the safety and well-being of citizens.

“When leadership and institutions work hand in hand, the results are always visible and impactful. This dredging project is a clear example of that,”

He also expressed optimism that with such interventions, the district will record fewer flood-related incidents in the coming rainy seasons. The Techiman North District Director of the National Disaster Management Organisation,  called on other stakeholders, including traditional leaders, private institutions, and community members, to join hands in maintaining clean and clear waterways to sustain the positive gains made.

Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare has over the years championed several community development projects in the Techiman North District, focusing on infrastructure, health, education, and disaster management. Her latest support towards the dredging of the Subin and Tano rivers reaffirms her commitment to improving living conditions and ensuring the safety of her constituents.
