Ghanaian boxer, Michael Okine, popularly known as Ayittey Powers says Bastie Samir is his last opponent he is dreaming to challenge before he retires from active boxing.
The boxer has vowed to beat Samir Bastie when they lock horns in a boxing bout.
He made this known in an interview with DJ Nyaami on SVTV Africa. Powers noted that although Bastie beat his friend Bukom Banku when they met, he will not repeat the mistakes Banku committed.
“’I have decided not to fight in Ghana again but not until I heard people saying because Bukom Banku defeated me and Bastie Samir also beat Bukom, I cannot stand Bastie in fight. I want to prove to them that, Bastie can never beat me; Bukom Banku made a big mistake that’s why Bastie beat him”.
“Bastie can never beat Banku, it was because Banku reduced his weight lower than Bastie and that led to his defeat. Bastie can never beat me; I’m challenging Bastie to a fight before I retire, I want a big promoter to promote that fight and I will whip Bastie so much then after that, I will retire from boxing.” He said.
He added that most people doubt his ability to beat Bastie but was insistent on the fact that people should believe him because 2020 he came with a refreshed energy.
Powers was twice defeated by old foe Bukom Banku before Samir knocked out previously undefeated Bukom Banku in a non-title contest in Accra in 2017.
Meanwhile, Ayittey says he plans on retiring from the sport that has offered him so much fame and fortune for the better part of the last two decades.
According to Bukom Banku, his spiritual father doesn’t want him to fight again because most of his opponents and colleague fighters he started with are mad and some are even dead.
