The commission of inquiry into state capture is expected to hear testimony from an unidentified witness from the State Security Agency (SSA), referred to only as Mr Y, on Thursday. The testimony is in relation to aviation.
On Wednesday the commission heard testimony from SSA evaluator Nokunqoba Gloria Dlamini, who struggled to explain the “great success” of a ‘deeply offensive’ security vetting process that SAA officials were subjected to during the time of former chairperson of the state owned enterprise, Dudu Myeni.
Dlamini argued the exercise was to reduce the potential of corruption within the entity but struggled to justify the invasive questioning. It was alleged that the vetting method that involved a series of “personal” questions was being used to remove opponents of Myeni.
On Thursday the commission will also hear testimony from a business executive at the Auditor- General of South Africa, Polani Sokombela.
