A sub-chief at Saka, a suburb in Bawku in the Upper East Region has been shot to death whiles son sustains a serious injury.
Reports say the unidentified assailants were three in numbers who shot Chief Salifu Mustapha twice in his head, hence killing him there and then.
One his sons who also fall a victim was shot in the stomach, leaving him half dead with a critical injury.
The Police at Zebilla has commenced investigations into the incident to establish the motive and the perpetrators behind the gruesome act.
According to the police, the gunmen stormed the house of the chief at about 8:20 p.m. Sunday and ordered him and his three sons to lie prostrate which they obliged.
They then shot the chief twice, the police said, adding one of his sons who raised his head to check what had happened was also shot in the stomach.
The injured son has since been taken to the Zebilla Government Hospital where he’s receiving treatment while the body of the chief was deposited at the Bolgatanga mortuary.
Nonetheless, the body of the deceased has been released to family members for burial whiles investigation continues.
