Fellow citizens I bring you the warmest greetings from the youth wing of the National Democratic Congress in the Adentan constituency.
It’s palpable without a soothsayer that we are not in normal times hence the need for us all to embrace the president’s directive of partial lockdown to avoid spreading the deadly coronavirus. #StayHome!
However, in the wake of this fight, we as citizens deserve nothing but transparency, accountability and above all financial discipline in these globally economic hard times.
Fellow Ghanaians, our brothers, Nigerians with a bigger economy and much more resources with a population of 200 million people budgeted $3million for the fight against Coronavirus.
Somewhere in Asia, where India with a much bigger economy and more resources with a population of over 800 million people budgeted $38million for battle against Coronavirus.
However, Ghana our beloved country with a smaller economy and a purported limited resources (as we were made to believe by our leaders) with a relatively smaller population of less than 30 million people has budgeted $100million for the same fight against this common enemy.
Meanwhile, the World Health Organization (WHO) says Ghana needs $6million to successfully fight the pandemic.
Is the Nana Addo led government telling us that they need $577 or Ghc3,333 per head (thus for the entire 30million population) to perpetually put to death the virus here in Ghana?
Fellow Ghanaians, it is imperative to us as citizens to know the detailed budget for our hard earn monies.
We the youth at Adenta demands an immediate financial update as it is in the case of the virus for peaceful mind and unison in this fight.
Fellow Ghanaians, on this note, let us remain united as we pray God almighty will heal our land and make us great and stronger than ever.
