Yilo Krobo: Tension at Perpertifi as Two Groups Installs Chiefs

There is escalating tension at Perpertive a community in the Yilo Krobo Municipality of the Eastern Region as two opposing groups have enstooled two “youth Chief” (Mmrantehene)

Since the simultaneous estoolments last week tension has been simmering which nearly turned bloody Sunday after the groups went on rampage brandishing cutlasses and machetes while adorned with traditional armor amid the singing of war songs.

A swift intervention by Obawale Police helped to avert what could have been deadly clashes in the community.

Mybrytfmonline.com has intercepted a letter under the signatories of Nyumu Teye Peter Narteh, Zer, and George Narh written to the incumbent Chief -John Apenahia that he has been destooled over his ill health hence the former Youth Chief-Paul Kwao has been enstooled to succeed him.

“The elders and kingmakers of Perpertifi township in consultation with the people in the community have enstool Mr. Paul Kwao who happens to be the immediate past Youth leader and also the “acting Dadematse” for the people of Perpertifi as a result of your health conditions has now been ordained and approved as the DADEMATSE of Perpertifi following your actions and inactions which saw some of the “youth” in our community selecting their own youth leader without following due process.” Excerpts of the letter stated.

The letter continued “however, you failed to officially inform the then incumbent youth leader ie Mr. Paul Kwao who was also acting in a capacity of DADEMATSE as a result of your health conditions, furthermore, you have illegally presided over the selection of an illegitimate “youth leader which has brought the image of our beloved community to disrepute.”.

The letter added that “above all, your health condition as of now cannot support you to discharge your duty as DADEMATSE hence the people and elders of Perpertifi would like to use this medium to officially inform you that you have been replaced from your position as DADEMATSE effective from Monday 11th of May 2020. The people and elders of Perpertifi wish you well and congratulate you for the service rendered to them”

But the alleged destooled Chief and his supporters who have enstooled a parallel Youth Chief are threatening to resist with their blood any attempt by the rival group to take over traditional leadership of the community.
