A two-month old baby has been butchered to death whiles its mother is said to be nursing severe machete wounds at St. Elizabeth Catholic Hospital in Hwidiem.
According to police in the area who confirmed the incident to MyNewsGh.com, at about 1:30pm on Thursday, some residents said while they were working on their farms, they heard the victim identified as Selina Seidu aged 25 years screaming for help at a nearby cottage.
They rushed to her aid and found her and the baby in a pool of blood with cutlass wounds on both of them.
They were rushed to Gyedu Health Centre for treatment but the baby was pronounced dead on arrival.
Selina Seidu mentioned the name of one Frank Naro as the one who attacked her and inflicted the multiple cutlass wounds on her and the baby but has since fled from the area
The victim who was referred to the St. Elizabeth Catholic Hospital at Hwidiem for further treatment is said to be on admission responding to treatment while the body of the deceased baby has been deposited in the morgue of the same facility.
Police disclosed that a search is ongoing for the suspected murderer.
