The 2018/2019 Northern region chapter of the National Service Personnel Association (NASPA) has donated a total of twenty six thousand (26,000) branded exercise books to 26 Districts in the region.
The donation forms part of activities marking the Northern region NASPA week celebration.
The books according to the association will ensure less privileged children and young educated elites from poor homes get educational materials to aid them through their education.
Addressing a mammoth programme in Tamale, the President of the association in the Northern region Abdul Rahman Mubarik said the days where NASPA week was characterized by fun fair is over.
He mentioned, as executives it is imperative to be innovative such that you can leave an incredible footprint that would be acknowledged by fruitful legacies.
“This project of the NASPA Educational Excellence and Equity Project we launching today is social imparting project since the less privileged are our target”
He indicated, the project is aimed at ameliorating efforts by various stakeholders in the education sector.
Mr. Mubarik appealed to government and other benevolent stakeholders to see the need to support the project.
“If this project will succeed, then government and all stakeholders must come onboard to support this wonderful course so that more people will benefit”
He apologized to members for the deduction made at source from their June allowance and appealed to subsequent executives to do due diligence with the issue.
On his part, Northern Regional Minister Salifu Saeed applauded the executives and members for taking such a wonderful project.
He stated the Nana Addo led NPP government is education conscious hence the introduction of the free SHS policy and other policies to support the growth of the education sector.
“You people think just as the President Akuffo Addo because you see education to be important”
He promised the regional coordinating council will support the project.
Mr. Saeed however cautioned them not to join the ‘unemployed graduates association’ but to be innovative to starting up businesses on their own.
He mentioned “the Ministry of Business Development has a package for business minded graduates and so you should tap into it” he said.
The week celebration is under the theme “planting for food and jobs, the role of NSP’s.
